La bibliothèque de YIH récolte des publications scientifiques sur le yoga pour la santé. Les bénéfices physiques et mentaux présumés du yoga sont les motivations principales pour suivre un cours de yoga (1). En outre, les dernières preuves scientifiques démontrent que la pratique du yoga peut améliorer un vaste éventail de problèmes de santé et des théories sur le mécanisme neurophysiologique, qui sous-tendent son fonctionnement, ont été proposées (2). Cependant, malgré la hausse de publications sur le yoga comme intervention thérapeutique (3) et les résultats encourageants des effets hétérogènes du yoga, une partie des études souffrent d’une qualité méthodologique pauvre ou avec des critères non-optimaux. YIH promeut, d’un côté, une pratique fondée sur des données probantes pour les enseignants de yoga et yoga thérapeutes et, de l’autre côté, l’initiation à la recherche sur le yoga pour le personnel médical et paramédical (4). Pour cette raison, YIH cherche à rendre les preuves scientifiques sur le yoga accessibles et compréhensibles. Concrètement, certains des articles disponibles dans la bibliothèque sont complétés par un aperçu contenant les limites, les points de force de l’étude et les messages à retenir. Quand l’on juge intéressant, un résumé de l’article est aussi prévu, incluant sa méthodologie, l’analyse et les conclusions. Le but est d’aider le lecteur dans l’interprétation et l’évaluation critique de la documentation de recherche pour pouvoir comprendre sa pertinence et communiquer aux bénéficiaires, qu’ils soient les patients ou les responsables des politiques de santé. Que pouvez-vous trouver dans la bibliothèque ?

YIH récupère et publie les références et/ou le texte complet de la littérature primaire (articles de recherche originaux publiés sur des journaux revus par les paires) et de la littérature secondaire (analyse complète ou méta-analyse) sur le yoga pour la santé et le yoga comme intervention pour la santé publique. Les références de la littérature tertiaire sont aussi disponibles mais pas commentées (livres, recommendations, points de vue, etc). Les aperçus et les résumés des études de recherche sont écrits et revus par des membres et contributeurs de YIH ayant une expérience dans la recherche scientifique.
